Patton's Birthday

How could I forget to blog even a single picture about Patton's big 4th birthday. Here he is w/ his big prize...Cardinal Buzz Windshield Svitak . Who orginally was an outside only cat, but has not quite made it outside. Many stories to talk about later about Cardinal the basketball, buying toys, wanted to get home from our vacation because we missed our Cardinal, etc.

Patton was lucky to have two parties. One to send Aunt Annie, Uncle Jeremy and Rylan off to Boise AND celebrate his bday at Dave and Buster's and the 2nd one to go to Red Robin w/ GReat Grandma and Grandpa Jim and Jan.

December Photo Project

I am excited again to participate in the December Photo Project. It allows a person to sit back and enjoy such a great time of year instead of rushing around forgetting all the little things that make it so great. If you want to join in on the fun, go to The Treadway's blog to sign up. Let the fun times begin!

Norf Dakota

Curling 101
Thanks to Grandpa Culyer's brother, we (or they I was a spectator) were able to learn the basics of curling. Fun times!
Casey trying his hand at it.
Patton finally braved the ice to try it. He and Kenner were able to have their own lane to do their own stone "throwing."
Casey doing some sweeping. Casey said it was harder than it looked.
Kenner felt so confident after he was done, as he climbed in the car he stated, "I think I should get a medal for being so good at that." Ummm maybe need to work on humility! He was quite the bragger at his new game, Blink, too. Yikes. I saw a bit too much of myself coming out...scary!

Patton needed a few more tries to get used to throwing the stone down the ice. It was fun though! Kenner really got good at hurling the stone down the ice by the time he was done.
Kenner playing cards w/ the big kids!
Cousin Rachel and Kenner. Rachel was the horse.

Did Great Grandma Ruth really say, "Who farted?" Thanks...now every time we have a camera out the boys say what Grandma Ruth said...Gotta love the smiles though!

Great Grandpa Culyer and boys Uncle Wevi

Aunt Wucy

Boys were COMPLETELY spoiled w/ the loads of tractors, trucks and implements to play w/ along with all the playmates. Thanks EVERYONE for playing w/ them. They are still talking about it!

Kenner teaching the older crowd how to play the intense game of S'Match. A MUST play game for all 3-5's.

**this is suppose to be at the top of the post...but too little patience and wanting to go to bed makes this stay at the bottom.
We were and are continually blessed w/ an abundance of family. Unfortunately that makes for an unsolvable equation when it comes to spending it with all family on all holidays. We do not have the equation solved...but for this weekend, I think we made the right choice by making the slippery choice to brave the weather and travel to North (or norf) Dakota to Casey's grandparent's house. It was a perfect opportunity for us as a family to get away one last time before the little peanut arrives in 6 weeks.

December Photo Project 1 "N dat..."

"N dat, n data, n dat, n dat" heard from in front of the couch as Patton chooses what he would like for Christmas without being asked, but instead being automatically prompted as he found the toy catalog and began labeling.

Meal plan for this week

Back to reality this week. I have got to get ourselves back into some type of routine before our new addition arrives in 6 weeks. I am very thankful for freezer cooking again this week, as I don't have to run to the grocery store tomorrow in order to provide a good meal for my family after being gone for 5 days to North Dakota for the Thanksgiving Holiday!

Monday: Swimming lessons 4:00
Beefy Vegetable Soup*

Tuesday: Simple Salisbury steaks* w/ green beans

Wednesday: AWANA
Beef brisket *w/ broccoli and carrots

Thursday: Rhi's Christmas party. Thanks to Aunt Kenny and uncle Trevor (and a couple red box movies...) we get to enjoy it.

Friday: Air NAtional Guard Family Christmas party at the Lincoln Children's Musuem. Not sure if food will be served so we will either have hotdogs and mac and cheese at home or hit a fast food, depending on if we come home or not.

Saturday: COOKING BAKING DAY. Any and all are invited to my house to make cookies, listen to Christmas music and possibly make a Jesse's Ladder (I think that is what is it called).
L: Broccoli Cheese Soup*
D: Homemade sausage pizza

Sunday:
L: Ham and Poppy Seed Sandwiches w/ fruit
D: Hot Beef Sandwiches or Beef and Noodles

Have a great week. It was refreshing to get out of the routine of life to enjoy our family and friends this past weekend. So thankful!

I am here...

I am not sure where I have been, but it has not been on the internet blogging. Beware of random photos of the last two months. Yikes...two months!
the boys enjoying a ride w/ Daddy. Obviously Kenner and Dad didn't think Patton's brain was important enough to protect. At Belivdere Museum Days. Kenner and Patton were so proud. They brought their own chore money and chose to buy italian ice BY THEMSELVES.
In preparation of finding something to buy w/ their chore money (2.00 whopping dollars), Patton said he wanted to find something from Toy Story 3. Sure enough, he found a home made photo book that was covered in Toy Story Fabric. What were the chances w/ less than 10 booths!

Rylan feeding Great Grandpa
I love this picture as they are each doing their own thing but doing the same activity. Life of crazy boys!
Playing w/ Great Grandpa's Trains. Obviously Kenner is stating, One more turn MOM!
Great Grandpa and his crew....wrecking crew or working crew. We will let Grandpa name this crew.
We were able to have a bonfire w/ the GREATest Grandpas...Great Grandpa Jim, Grandpa Pat, Great Grandpa Roger, Great Grandma Jackie, and Great Great Grandpa Cornie

Our Great Great Grandpa Cornie w/ the crew.

Meal plan for this week

This weekend was bittersweet w/ getting to spend an entire day w/ my sister Becca, but saying goodbye to my other sister Andrea. Her family moved to Boise, ID to open a Complete Nutrition store. They arrived safely yesterday and had neighbors help them move 1/2 the truck into the house. This was a huge blessing as my sister can't help (pregnant) and Jeremy's dad has a bad back. He is the only other person they know that drove the moving van out. W/ that being said, I am late in getting my meal plan out this week.

Monday: OVER

Tuesday: Hamburgers and homemade ff and grilled asparagus (last nice day here)

Wednesday: PATTON's BDAY! We get to go to Red Robin before Awana w/ my grandparents. Such a treat!

Thursday: Chicken cacciatore *

Friday: May go out w/ adult friends and no children or go to State Volleyball

Saturday: May to go Grand Island for State finals OR STAY HOME ALL DAY:)
If home:
L: Chicken breast and veggies
D: Beefy Vegetable Soup

Sunday: (do Sat menu if not here on Sat)
L: leftovers
D: Lasagna w/ green beans (if things go on sale this week (cross my fingers) I plan to do my 20 lasagnas this Sunday for December's freezer cooking)

I have been challenged w/ my menu planning this week and for a long time. I was recently given the challenge of having gestational diabetes. It is amazing w/ monitoring the carbs I get...or actually paying the least bit of attention to it, my sugars have actually been super low instead of super high. Simple substitutions like celery instead of chips for my sister Becca's awesome Buffalo Chicken dip, focusing on green versus brown (starches) to find a side for meals. It isn't that hard...just needed to actually pay attention to it.

As many of you know, I have been shopping sales only the past two years. Today was the first time in a long time that I actually bought broccolli and cucumbers NOT on sale. Yes it was hard and had to do alittle self talk through the whole process of getting the bag not paying attention to the price and putting it in my cart and keeping it there. I am going to TRY to put a salad together for every meal. There isn't much nutrition in a salad...but there is definitely less carbs in a salad than a 2nd or 1st heaping helping of rice, pasta or potatoes:)

I have the opportunity to work w/ several diabetics and some who have lost limbs to the disease. This is MAJOR motivation to not only change my lifestyle but also teach my boys and family proper portions of starches so we can possibly eliminate our increased chances of diabetes later in life. I am not eliminating starches...but just monitoring them. We will see how well we do...pasta, rice or potatoes are a STAPLE in my house...so this should be interesting.

Have a great week!
