Better Than...Erza!

Casey and I got to go on our late 5 year or early 6 year anniversary trip last week to the Horshoe Casino in Council Bluffs. Not for the gambling, but for Casey's All-Time Favorite band, Better than Ezra. It was a great concert and a very fun night out with my husband. We haven't gotten to do many adult only things for a while. A HUGE Thank you to my mom, dad and Uncle Caleb for taking the boys last week. Casey and I were able to go out with Aunt Kendra and Uncle Trevor to our favorite wing place, Watering Hole, and sit and enjoy adult conversations.

Casey and I did play the slots...but I brought a tupperware container full of change which equalled to $36.00. We only played that money and came away $110 richer. It was fun just sitting next to the love of my life and watching him play "Used Cars." It was strange, when I won, Casey lost. When he won, I lost. With the penny machines...you can play for a long time!

Lincoln Grocery Goods for week of 6/10/09

Weekly Groceries 6/10/09
NOTE: All Super Savers will price match as long as you bring in your ads. I matched at the North Super Saver on 27th and Cornhusker Hwy. I was also able to do three transactions (split my groceries up into increments of $10 to get three free scallop packages). This is an even better way to stretch those coupons. The online coupons usually get switched over later in the day today…so to get the SUPER cheap toilet paper you will need to print the coupons soon before they change them.

Happy Shopping! I am not sure if you benefit from this list, but I do love waking up on Wednesday mornings to compile itJ I will be on vacation next week, so check out the two Lincoln websites for the latest grocery deals – www.toopoortoeat.blogspot.com or www.chicksdigdeals.blogspot.com

Thomas pictures!

Shopping for sales for EVERYONE not those that have access to computers

Super Saver is SO tricky!!! I went after church this Sunday am to get my .98 cereal (I wasn't able to get to either sale prior with my 1.00 off coupons)! I was quite confused when I went to the cereal aisle and checked the end caps for this deal...no such prices. I didn't think I needed to bring in my Super Saver ad to match Super Saver ads! I went up to the cashier and set the boxes of cereal aside. After she was ringing up my other purchases (I must say all with coupons!!), I told her that these might not ring up but blah blah blah about the Super Saver ad. She asked me if it was the correct ad, I said, yes. She went to get the manager. The manager said those prices are good, but they were in the wall of savings and not in the cereal aisle. PLUS she had to change the boxes of cereal I had (12 oz) to the 16-20 oz (BIGGER), because the 12 oz was 2.68 and the 16-20 oz were 1.98! If I didn't advocate for my pricing...I would have paid much more for these. I have slowly gained my confidence with shopping and knowing the prices...but today I gained even more confidence. I also became more frustrated on what stores get away with. I shared some of my coupons (because I really didn't need 10 boxes of cereal) with a dad and his daughter on the way in to Super Saver. I wanted to go find them in the store to ensure they got the correct ones...but didn't have the time. They probably didn't get a deal like I did, because they weren't aware of the prices. How frustrating!?!? Just thought I would share my thoughts!

First four days of summer

Wow! I can't believe how crazy summer has already been...a GOOD CRAZY! 1/2 of work on Thursday and then off to the Zoo with friends at school to celebrate Summer! Friday fun at home and then off to Omaha for good deals at Carter's and Oshkosh before my Aunt and Uncle had us all over for a pool party for State Track. Congrats to my cousin Seth for 1st place finishes in Triple and Long Jump and 2nd places in 100 and 200 at State! Way to go!

The pool was AWESOME!!! I felt like I was in Minnesota again with the diving board and doing handshands off of it.

Saturday was THOMAS at Persing. It was 2 hours long! Pictures to come! The boys also did marathon shopping with mommy at Target, CVS, and Super Saver. I spent $56 and saved $66!!! SO COOL!!!

Sunday was great to be back at Church and going to Texas Roadhouse with our family. Sundays a great treat. I wish I could bring back Grandma Jackie's Hospitality Sunday dinners...maybe I will in the future. I was able to work in the yard while the boys chilled inside with Dad. I love having a GREEN yard verses a brown mud puddle!

Today we went to the cemetary for a Memorial Day service and now going out to Huttes' for a BBQ.

Thank you to all who serve for our Country!

Funny times to begin full time

This is going to be a random post...but I wanted to get these memories down so that I don't forget them.

I am really looking forward to a summer at home with my boys. While putting Kenner and Patton to bed last night, they were questioning me about summer and what it was. They asked if we could go to a park every day, if they could play with boats (Minnesota), if we could go see lions (zoo). I really hope we can go do all those things this summer. They both are sponges at this point.

Their creativity has also increased tremendously. A simple swifter sweeper is a broom, a vehicle. a sword, a gun, and many more things in a matter of 30 seconds.

Kenner was upset on Monday on the way home from school, because I told him I was going to mow the lawn. He said sadly, "But mom I love our long grass." He has recently said the same thing with his fingernails. "But mom, I like my long fingers. I can't grab things when you cut them."

Bubbi is quite the personality lately. He is getting into much more trouble by letting his brother have it several times throughout the day. We are trying to bribe him as much to go on the potty with going to Thomas on Saturday. Kenner will be able to tell you that Thomas is coming on the twentyfud (23rd). Patton has sat on the potty a few times, but not too successful. I hope to be having a naked boy running around outside this summer (sorry Pat (our neighbor):))

Have a great Wednesday!

Ha-BEE Mother's day

Casey and I were busily at work outside cleaning up our garden. I just had all the bee garb on watching him do his bee thing. It was cool, but surreal that the bees would just fly all around me or hit my hat...but not bother my hands or calves or feet that were not covered. We put the bee garb away, let the bees sit for 10 minutes and back out we went cleaning up around the hive/garden. I wasn't even given a warning about this little bee friend and it got me on the eye lid. Yes OUCH! I can see a bit better today (because my eye is a 1 cm open). I went to Urgent Care and apparently I am allergic to bee stings. Not the bad swollen throat kind, but bad enough to swell like an egg on my eye and not allow me to see. Fun times! Hopefully I can go to work today and be awake all day. I was gracious to have a wonderful husband to fullfill all the duties of mom and dad this weekend...because I was WIPED. I haven't been up for more than 3 hours straight since Saturday afternoon. Speaking of a good Daddy...look who made home made sugar cookies with two friends this weekend?

Frugal Times- Grocery Deals Lincoln, NE

Hello all! I really can not NOT tell you about how much fun saving money is. I attached pictures my big purchases from last night Shopping Extravaganza at Super Saver. Again…Super saver is super sneaky. They price matched Hyvee’s yogurt (which was .30) and put it on their shelf for .28!! Yeah for usJ If you haven’t started just glancing at the ads, planning at least one meal a week…starting new in May is maybe a good time to start. It is completely amazing. I spent $43.84, used 12.59 in coupons, and price matched all items except 2. I bought 46 items…so that equals to about .95 per item…that included a whole chicken, two DiGorno pizzas, FUN TIMES!

For example, I got 1 gallon of milk for $1.25 with a sale and a coupon. As I was giving another gentleman a coupon at the milk section last night, I realized that I was getting a better price for a whole gallon than I could have bought a ½ gallon. Here are the sales within the sales for this next week. I have also changed my shopping day to Tuesdays…to get the best of the weekly sales and the weekend sales.

Also for coupon match-ups go to http://www.chicksdigdeals.blogspot.com/. They spend hours finding price matched items…so it is worth your trip (i.e. I got DIGORNO pizza last night for $1.25 thanks to them!!! BTW, our family has never eaten Digorno and it was delish…but a major delicacy!

I had to put a picture of my boys saying, “Cheese!” because they were saying that the entire time I was setting up the picture…because they WANTED the cheese!

Have a great Mother’s Day!

too much to do...so

I resort to doing none of it.
List to get done:
Laundry - a week or more of it
Clean up after supper
put dishes away in dish washer
play with boys
Caleb's Scrapbooks of his four years of high school
Caleb's Tshirt quilt (not even started...still in tshirt form)
Rake up the straw in our yard so our new little grass can grow
more and more and more

When I see an end in sight of school being out in two weeks...I resort to doing nothing. BUT unfortunately nothing will do it's self and it all needs to be done before school gets out. I guess life trumps me! Maybe this one night off will motivate me to get me going!

Grocery Deals in Lincoln, NE

Weekly Groceries 4/15/09
Yeah for Hyvee and their cheese price this week! Really you can’t have enough cheese. I found out the hard way that buying at Sam’s is nice, but quite expensive. I have found myself doing well on an average of $40-$50 grocery bill each week by buying things on sale and stocking up, so going to Sam’s last week and buying diapers and wipes…I was already at $50 YIKES! I think I am going to live without Sam’s for a while and just buy what I need when I need it (aka buy on sale). For example – Cheese at Sam’s is cheaper, but once you go home and package it all…you might as well stock up at Hyvee this weekJ Just my thoughts.

Also for those of you new at this grocery sale game – Super Saver is QUITE sneaky. I have successfully matched all competitor’s ads at Super Saver for a month now. I am finding that you don’t have to “match” as many prices as you think…because they mark down almost all other ads, especially Hyvee and Russ’s. So although their advertised prices might not be that great…they scope out the competition and mark their prices down .01 less! Sneaky? YES!

Also this is my disclaimer…I have only been really shopping the sales for 4 months now…so if you see something of mine wrong or I missed something, I would like to know. I am learning right along with the rest of you and the more we help each other the more we will see in our pockets!

Check out www.chicksdigdeals.blogspot.com Two women from the New Convenant Community Church have put a lot of work into finding sales in Lincoln. For example…follow their scenario and get paid for buying Easy Mac…no joke!

Have a great week!

Miss Aunt Becca

It was a bittersweet dinner tonight with Gma and Gpa Kenner. Casey was able to go with me to Red Robin with the boys and meet Gma and Gpa on their way home from Minnesota...but Aunt Becca and Uncle Mike were missing. This is just one of the many times I have GREATLY missed Aunt Becca in Lincoln. I realize that a majority of their friends are in Omaha, Becca's job, etc, etc, etc...but I really don't think she knows how much the boys and miss being able to call Aunt Becca for Culver's or Biggest Loser night.

Have a good life in Omaha Loser Aunt Becca...in case your friend's don't like you any more we will always gladly take you back in Lincoln!

BTW...CONGRATS with the New house. Again...if that doesn't pull through there is a house for sale across the street from us that I would gladly help with the down payment:)

Love and miss you Aunt Becca. That Aunt Annie better realize what she has up there...

Easter Egg Hunt in Beatrice at My Great Aunt Diane's Bubb on the look out
Daddy and Kenner playing a little hard boiled egg toss...too easy. We need them not hard boiled next year:)
Stacia (my flower girl) and I trying the three legged race!
All the little ones under 4...two little babies still inside. Looks like the number of 83 is not stopping anytime soon.
My first lattice pie I made for Easter. I really cheated though...I used store boughten crusts. It was sure fun though. Thanks to my Pampered Chef collection (I am putting in an order next week...) I have a lot of fun baking! Done pie. It was yummy!
Looking at ducks on the farm of the BIG Easter Egg hunt...look futher down for reference to it. This silly blogspot has been posting my pictures backwards. Ugh
I fink there'th a egg over dere - Bubbi
Kenner at work...no play until all eggs are found!
There were so many people at this "little" Easter Egg Hunt 2.5 miles south of Sprague. Who would have thought? It was fun searching for eggs in stickers and cow pies:) Before the big hunt.
Dying Easter Eggs at home with Mommy...anyone looking for the CHEESE!

More cheese!
Our family with my Great Aunt Diane. She hosts our WHOLE family (83 people) for Easter.

First Annual Crete Elementary Carnival

Well it is over and we are already planning next year's 2nd annual Elementary Carnival. I have always secretly been a Hebron Bear at heart...but I was transformed last Friday night and will now be a Crete Cardinal through and through. This carnival could have had many things go wrong...but they didn't because all the volunteers (especially staff members) stepped up without being asked. The decorations were unbelievable, the fun was incredible and the night went without many hitches (inflatable deflating and a kid puking all at the same time). I am so proud to say I am apart of the Crete Elementary School! Here are a few pictures! We made $2400 profit from this event...it wasn't even suppose to be a money maker. I guess we will put that $2400 toward the carnival next year:)
Tissue Flowers Cotton Candy
Of course...my adorable boys sporting the clown hats!
Our fearless Leader, Bret (principal), his wife and K teacher, Amy, and my co-organizer Heather.
The hospital was there to show the many colors that you are suppose to be eating everyday
More staff members having fun!
Ellen, a K Teacher, whom Heather and I can't repay enough for helping us out. She is truly a character of true friendship and God's love. Thank you Ellen!

Hoopla Balloon Animals with two real clowns!
